Is old photo restoration free?

New accounts get free credits, enough for several Standard restorations at 12 credits each. Pro costs 18 credits and is available on any paid plan or credit pack. Colorize does not cost extra, and failed jobs are refunded automatically.

What kinds of damage can it fix?

Scratches, creases and fold lines, dust and specks, stains and water marks, torn or missing corners, fading, yellow or magenta color casts, and soft focus. Very large missing areas are reconstructed plausibly but cannot restore detail that was never captured.

Will it change the faces or the people in the photo?

No. The recipe is locked to faithfulness: it keeps every person, expression, age, clothing item, pose and the framing exactly as they are, and never beautifies. If you need creative edits, use the AI Image Generator's image-to-image mode instead.

Can it colorize black-and-white photos?

Yes. Choose Restore + Colorize and the restorer repairs the damage first, then adds period-accurate, naturally muted colors for skin, hair, clothing, sky and foliage. Plain Restore keeps monochrome prints monochrome.

What is the difference between Standard and Pro?

Standard uses a fast, faithful engine and returns the image at roughly the scan's size. Pro uses a stronger engine and renders at 1.5K, recovering finer skin and fabric texture — the tier to pick for heirloom prints, heavy damage and anything you plan to reprint or frame.

What resolution should my scan be?

300 dpi scans of a 4×6 print (about 1200×1800 px) work well; phone photos of the print are fine if shot straight-on in even light. Anything up to 10MB JPG, PNG or WebP is accepted. For poster sizes, run the restored result through the AI Image Upscaler.

How long does a restoration take?

Standard finishes in about 20 seconds, Pro in about a minute. Jobs keep running in the background, so you can leave the page and find the result in your library.

Are my family photos private?

Uploads are processed by the AI provider and results are stored in your private library so you can download them later. Photos are never used to train models, and you can delete any result at any time.
